The Traveling Hat

When the old group discussion threads got deleted and a new group started, I was thrilled to jump at the chance to cut in line. For one, that meant I would get the hat sooner than originally thought. And (B), it meant I would get the hat after Wendy (aka bitca). I love Wendy and the chance to put on a hat that had sat atop her gorgeous head made me weak in the knees. The hat arrived, and there was a bonus gift from Wendy just for me! A finger knife weapon thingy. Pretty bad ass. The best gift was it made me go up to my room and take silly photos just for fun, something I hadn’t done in ages and ages. Made me happy.

I waited what seemed like forever for the hat to finally show up at my house but when it did i had a lot of fun with it. I had my son wear a similar hat and i took quite a few photos with it. I got to send it off to the amazing Wendy A. or aka “Bitca”. The fact i already knew her from flickr made sending off the hat just as exciting as when it arrived.

At least a hundred or so drivers who passed my house on a 95 degree afternoon in June must have done a double take when they saw me pulling out of my driveway on a bike wearing the traveling hat. I must attest to the heat retaining capabilities of this magical cap as my head still feels the warmth of it 6 months later.

And why, yes, that is a Pearl Jam “Choices” shirt from 1992. (The back says, “9 out of 10 kids prefer crayons to guns”.) I picked it up at a garage sale when I was in Jr High. It was huge on me then and is still 2 sizes too big on me now.

When I saw Greg and Kim in the hat, I had to try it myself. I think I was third or fourth to get it, and since then its been all over the U.S. Trev even had it in Japan!
